  • Reformat Windows Xp 32 bit hard drive as NTFS to have Windows 7 install.

    Locked

    by cdwright1 ·

My Acer Aspire has Windows7 Ultimate. Love it. So I bought Windows7 Home Premium for my hubby's Acer. I performed a clean install on it.
It works so well- I'm on a roll then I decided to install on my lilliputian Acer Aspire 1 notebook (netbook??) which currently runs 32bit xp OS .
But I can't install information technology.. Information technology has to exist formatted equally NTFS get-go.
    How do I do that?

I recollect I found information technology (A pat on the shoulder- I'g a natural geek.)
The windows seven install includes a format selection which I activated. It did the remainder and now it looks similar I'k well on my way to a new Bone on my mini laptop. Sweet!

Which model of Acer Aspire One netbook do you accept?

I have an older one, Acer Aspire 1 ZG5, aka AOA 150-1786. Currently runs WinXP
Starter and Slax Linux. I've contemplated Win7, since my HP laptop has Win7Ultimate,
merely and so far I don't have any real complaints with XP on the Aspire One.
Win7 should support the video on the ZG5 (1024×600), though Win8 says it doesn't,
anyway not for the "Modern" UI. Let us know your results and impressions.

      DON'T DO IT!!

In reply to Reformat Windows Xp 32 bit difficult bulldoze as NTFS to accept Windows 7 install.

I take the Z65.. I had run the win seven update advisor previous to my install and information technology said win vii dwelling house premium could exist installed..(32 bit) Non!!!
Information technology installed… But before it could finish installing updates I ran out of room on my primary drive. I turned it off until I could effigy out all my options…
I being just buy a used one off ebay for $40-$50.00 with the win Os already on it…
But I'm kindof attached to this one. I've had it for 5yrs- Information technology was my 1st computer. I besides have an Acer Aspire 3680..
I'm wondering if I should just supercede the difficult drive. I did try the Acer system/recovery discs just nothing happened. Considering it was reformatted or due to it at present running win7, I don't know.
I attempted the upgrade because xp only seems to run so slow for me-
Now it'south a project for me to mess around with!! 🙂

The emergency recovery sectionalization may still be on the hard drive, since
Windows usually just formats the partition it is installing to. Finding it
may be difficult, might have to employ a bootable Linux, like I use, Slax,
usually using version 6.ane.2, available at old.slax.org. Take an extra
USB pollex drive handy and re-create the contents of that sectionalisation to it…
might work? Might need an emergency startup disk/thumb drive though,
or maybe press F12 at boot and run across if the option to boot from recovery
        partition is there (probably isn't).
